Medical Education Unit

1.The inaugural meeting of the Medical education Unit was held on 9^th July 2003.The Dean,Dr.Ignatius chaired the meeting.Senior members and Professors Dr.Mebel Legori,Dr.Jose Jacob, Dr.B.A Kabir, Dr.G.V.Das, Dr. M.E.Abraham attended the meeting. Rev. Fr. Gabriel Chiramel CMI, Founder Director,AIMS,Thrissur blessed the meeting.  Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur wished all success for the activities of MEU.

Regular meetings were held on the 6^th August,2003,20^th November 2003.

2.On the 1^st of January 2004 Dr.Swarnam L.V Principal,AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Professor. Dr. Kunjamma George also participated along with the senior members in the meeting.

Regular meetings were held on the 9^th,15^th, January, 5^th,21^st February 2004, 29^th April and 10^th June 2004.Professors Dr.Agnessama Jacob, Dr.M.E.Chandran also participated and regular meetings conducted in the years 2005 and 2006..

3.On the 5^th of January 2007 Dr.Swarnam L.V Principal,AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Professor. Dr.T.P.Antony, Dr.M.N.Rema, Dr. K.J.Geener and Dr.V.K. Parvathy also participated along with the senior members in the meeting. Rev. Fr. Jaison Mundanmani CMI, Assistant Director, AIMS,Thrissur supported and guided the activities of the MEU. 

4.The 12^th meeting of the MEU was held on the 16^th of February 2008 Dr. M.J.Cyriac, Principal, AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Professor Bhagavathiammai also participated along with the senior members in the meeting. Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI, Director ,AIMS,Thrissur inaugrated the meeting and  wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2008.

5.The 13^th meeting of the MEU was held on the 23^rd of May 2009 Dr. M.R. Chandran, Principal, AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Dr. Padmaja G.Nair, Dr. Bindu C.B also participated along with the senior members in the meeting. Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI, Director ,AIMS,Thrissur and Rev.Fr. Deljo Puthoor CMI, Assistant Director  attended the meeting and  wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2009.

6.The 14^th meeting of the MEU was held on the 1^st of July 2009 Dr.M.R. Chandran, Principal, AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Professor Bhagavathiammai, Professor of Pharmacology was nominated as the new MEU Coordinator. Dr. Padmaja G.Nair, Dr.Bindu C.B also participated along with the senior members in the meeting. 

7. The 15^th meeting of the MEU was held on the 3^rd October 2009. Dr.M.R. Chandran, Principal, AIMS, Thrissur chaired the MEU meeting. Professor Bhagavathiammai, Professor of Pharmacology was nominated as the new MEU Coordinator. Dr.Rini Raveendran, Dr.JijiInassi also participated along with the senior members in the meeting.

8. The 16^th meeting of the MEU was held on the 7^th October 2010. New faculty members were included in the MEU. Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2010.

9.Regular meetings were held on the 29^th October 2012,1^st November, 2^nd November, 8th November, 2012.Rev.Fr. Francis Kurissery CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2012.

10.Regular meetings were held on the 1^st,16^th, January 2013 and in the year 2014.Rev.Fr. Francis Kurissery CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur inaugurated and wished  all success for the activities of MEU in 2013.

11. Regular meetings were held on 13^thJanuary, 2015, 3^rd March, 29th July 2015.

12. Regular meetings were held in 2016, 2017 and on 26^th February 2018,18^th July 2018.

13. Regular meetings are conducted since then and details under following subheadings from 2019.

Faculty attended Advanced Course In Medical Education( ACME) at NMC Nodal Centre for Faculty Development, GMC Kottayam from 2017.

1. From 28^th to 30th May 2018, the Revised Basic Course training with AETCOM was conducted at AIMS, Thrissur. 30 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Sooraj Rajgopal, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.
2. From 1^st to 3^rd July 2021, the Revised Basic Course training with AETCOM was conducted offline at AIMS, Thrissur. 30 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Smitha C.A, Associate Professor of Psychiatry from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.
3. From 9^th to 11^th November 2021, the Revised Basic Course training with AETCOM was conducted offline at AIMS, Thrissur. 30 Faculty members of our medical college attended,  Dr.Sooraj Rajgopal, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.
4. From 4^th to 6^th January 2023, the Revised Basic Course training with AETCOM was conducted offline at AIMS,Thrissur.  30 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Saritha J Shenoy, Associate Professor of Physiology and internal Resource Faculty of NC,GMC Kottayam was the Observer.
5. From 20^th  to 22^nd  May 2024,  the  Basic Course in Medical Education(BCME)  was conducted offline at AIMS,Thrissur.  29 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Ajaykumar, Additional Professor of OBG and internal Resource Faculty of NC,GMC Kottayam was the Observer.
6. On 31st July 2025,1st & 2nd August 2025,  the  Basic Course in Medical Education(BCME)  was conducted offline at AIMS,Thrissur.  30 Faculty members of our medical college attended,  Dr.Saritha J Shenoy, Associate Professor of Physiology and internal Resource Faculty of NC,GMC Kottayam was the Observer. . Rev.Fr.Julious Arackkal CMI,Director, AIMS, Thrissur inaugurated the workshop and Rev.Fr. Antony Mannumel  CMI, Associate Director, AIMS, Thrissur felicitated the meeting. 

1. From 3^rd to 5^th June 2019, the CISP 1- Curriculum Implementation Support Programme was conducted at AIMS, Thrissur. 30 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Nirmal Bhaskar,Associate Professor of Paediatric Surgery from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.

1. From 20^th to 22^nd July 2020, the online CISP 2-Curriculum Implementation Support Programme workshop was conducted at AIMS, Thrissur. 5 Faculty members of our medical college attended, Dr.Smitha C.A, Associate Professor of Psychiatry from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.

5. On the 11^th and 12th April 2005, the first Teachers training programme for medical college teachers was held in AIMS, Thrissur.There were 19 participants from preclinical, paraclinical and clinical-surgical subjects.
6. On the 22^nd June 2005 Faculty development programme was arranged for teachers of the department of General Medicine.
7. On the 6^th July 2005 Faculty development programme was arranged for teachers of the department of General Surgery.
8. On the 20^th and 21st February 2007,the Teachers training programme for medical college teachers was held in AIMS, Thrissur.There were 15 participants from preclinical, paraclinical and clinical-surgical subjects.Rev. Fr. Jaison Mundanmani CMI, Assistant Director, AIMS,Thrissur supported and guided the activities of the MEU.
9. On the 6^th and 7^th March 2008,the Teachers training programme for medical college teachers was held in AIMS, Thrissur. There were 13 participants from preclinical, paraclinical and clinical-surgical subjects.Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI, Director ,AIMS,Thrissur inaugrated the meeting and wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2008.
10. The platinum jubilee year of the Medical Council Of India was celebrated on the 12^th of August 2008 at AIMS, Thrissur with an excellent scientific programme.
11. On the 14^th and 15^th July 2009,the Teachers training programme for medical college teachers was held in AIMS, Thrissur.There were 12 participants from preclinical, paraclinical and clinical-surgical subjects. Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI, Director ,AIMS,Thrissur and Rev.Fr. Deljo Puthoor CMI, Assistant Director attended the meeting and wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2009.
12. On the 4^th and 5^th November 2011,the Research Methodology Workshop for PG students was organized by the MEU.Rev.Fr.George Pius CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2011.
13. On the 21^st to 23^rd November 2012,the Teachers training programme for medical college teachers was held in AIMS, Thrissur.There were 21 participants from preclinical, paraclinical and clinical-surgical subjects.Rev.Fr. Francis Kurissery CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2012.
14. The Basic course workshop was organized at AIMS, Thrissur from 23^rd to 25^th January 2013. Dr.Anitha P.M,Associate Professor of Microbiology from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.Rev.Fr. Francis Kurissery CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur inaugurated and wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2013.
15. From 28^th to 30th May 2018, the Revised Basic Course training with AETCOM was conducted at AIMS, Thrissur. 30 Faculty members of our medical college attended,Dr.Sooraj Rajgopal, Associate Professor of Physical Medicine& Rehabilitation from Regional Centre Kozhikode was the Observer.Rev.Fr. Francis Kurissery CMI,Director ,AIMS,Thrissur inaugurated and wished all success for the activities of MEU in 2018.

1. On the 22^nd to 26^th August 2005 Dr.V.K. Subhadra- General Medicine and Dr.T. Jayakrishnan –General Surgery attended the teachers development programme at Pushpagiri institute of medical sciences, Thiruvalla. Dr.M.R.Chandran-Forensic Medicine attended as a faculty.
2. On the 5^th to 9^th August 2005 Dr.M.Indira - General Medicine and Dr.Theresa John –OBG attended the teachers development programme at Jubilee Mission Medical College, Thrissur. Dr.M.R. Chandran-Forensic Medicine and Dr. M.N.Rema-Pharmacology attended as faculty.
3. On the 9^th to 19^thSeptember 2009 Dr.Rini Raveendran, Dr.JijiInassi attended the teachers development programme at JIPMER, Pondicherry.
4. Faculty members were deputed to attend the Basic Course training in GMC, Kottayam for 6^th to 9^th September 2010 by Dr. Kishore, Mr.Vinodkumar.
5. Dr. Sindhu attended the workshop at GMC, Kozhikode from 1^st to 3^rd 2012.
6. Over the years from 2013 to 2016 faculty members Dr. Bindhu C.B, Dr.Savithri.M.C, Dr.Deepti Ramakrishnan, Dr. Paul O Raphael, Dr.Menon Sunilkumar received training in the Revised Basic Course in Medical Education,From Regional Centre of Medical Education Technologies,GMC,Kozhikode.

2. On 11th March 2024, attended a program at  AIMS,Thrissur on Organizing skills .  Rev.Fr.Julious Arackkal CMI, Director, AIMS, Thrissur inaugurated the meeting. Rev. Fr. 3. On 14th March 2024, attended UGMEB NMC online meeting at 10.30 am at Forensic Conference Hall, AIMS, Thrissur by Principal Dr. Betsy Thomas, Head of the Departments, Dr.Menon Sunil Kumar, MEU Coordinator, representatives of  MEU, Curriculum Committee and MEU sub committees. President/Member-UGMEB/PGMEB had interactive session with Principal/MEU/CC Convenors/Co-Convenors and student representatives of Medical Colleges.

5. On 10th to 12th June 2024, faculty members of Medical Education Unit, Dr.Subi Das, Dr.Anish S., Dr.Dijoe Davis, Dr.Prameela Menon and Dr, Jijo Joseph attended the Basic Course in Medical Education (BCME) at NMC Nodal Centre, GMC Kottayam.
6. On 12^th July 2024, second quarterly meeting as advised by NMC Nodal Centre, GMC Kottayam was organized at MEU Conference Hall. Attended by Dr.Betsy Thomas,Principal & Chairman of MEU. The Head of the Departments and representatives Faculty members of each sub committee-CBME phase coordinators, alignment and integration team, AETCOM committee, Skill lab representative ,Learner Doctor Method coordinator attended the meeting. The agenda was to update the activities of MEU,MEU Sub committees, Uploading timetable and documents of skill lab/ Clinical Clerkship and preparation of list for CISP 3.
7. On 05th September 2024, the Curriculum Committee and  MEU  members started the CBME sessions for Junior Residents and Senior Residents. Batch A, 17 members attended the classes at the Forensic conference hall. Dr.Deepti Ramakrishnan.,  Vice Principal , Dr.Menon N K Sunil Kumar. MEU Co-Ordinator,  Dr. Mini Kariappa , MEU member , Dr.Boney Rajan, MEU member conducted the sessions from 2 pm to 4.00pm. 
8. On 24th September 2024, the Curriculum Committee and  MEU  members conducted the second CBME sessions for Junior Residents and Senior Residents. 5. On 30th March 2025, CME on CBME-"Eyedeas-2025" was organized by Department of Ophthalmology in association with MEU unit ,AIMS, Thrissur. Theme: Chaos to Clarity in Competency - Based Ophthalmic Education.  Rev. Fr.Antony Mannummel CMI , Associate Director, AIMS, Thrissur blessed the CME and inaugurated CME. Dr. Betsy Thomas, Principal and Chairman MEU presented a motivational speech on the implementation of CBME Curriculum in our institution, CC/MEU activities and the future activities. There was very active interaction on all aspects of CBME Curriculum. It was a team work involving  Department of Medical Education, Curriculum Committee , MEU-Sub committees &Team  Department of Ophthalmology under the able guidance of Dr. Lathika V K., Professor & HOD ,Department of Ophthalmology, AIMS, Thrissur. 
6. On 15th May 2025,Dr. Mini Kariappa,Dr Lola Das, Dr. Stelin, Dr. Anish S., Dr Nayana Sunil, Dr. Boney Rajan attended KUHS MCQ Workshop. 
7. On 26th July 2025, Dr. Prameela Menon, Professor of OBG, MEU member and Dr Tinju James, Professor & SSGP Nodal Officer organized mentorship program for 2021 Batch at AIMS,Thrissur. 21 Mentor faculty members  identified and allotted students from 2021 CBME MBBS Batch.

On 4th August 2025, Rev.Fr.Antony Mannumel,Associate Director,AIMS,Thrissur advised to start a moodle training programme under MEU at AIMS,Thrissur for faculty members during the meeting with Dr.Menon N K Sunilkumar, MEU Coordinator. Meetings of MEU Sub-Committees 2024

1. On 11th March 2024 the four MEU Sub-Committees -AETCOM, Skill lab, Learner Doctor Method and Alignment and Integration Sub-Committees decided and reinforced during the quarterly meeting of Curriculum Committee and MEU.
2. On 3^rd April 2024,first meeting of Alignment & Integration Sub-Committee in 2024 was organized by Dr.Anish S, Co-ordinator, A-I team at the Department of Geriatrics and guidelines for implementation of CBME curriculum , Alignment & Integration across the phases, preparation of time table of each phases was discussed in detail.
3. On 11^th April 2024,first meeting of Skill Lab Sub-Committee in 2024 was organized by Dr.(Lt Col.) B. Vipin, Co-ordinator, Skill Lab committee  at the MEU Conference hall and guidelines for implementation of CBME curriculum , updating skill lab training, Skill lab log book, acquiring mannequins and skill lab requirements discuss in detail. 
4. On 19^th April 2024,first meeting of Learner Doctor Method Sub committee in 2024 was organized by Dr. Kalyani Pillai, Co-ordinator, LDM team at the Department of Paediatrics and guidelines for implementation of CBME curriculum , LDM sessions in each phase, preparation of LDM log book was discussed in detail.
5. On 9^th May 2024,first meeting of AETCOM Sub-Committee in 2024 was organized by Dr. V.K. Prathiba, Co-ordinator, AETCOM team at the Department of Pharmacology and guidelines for implementation of CBME curriculum , AETCOM sessions in each phase, preparation of time table of each phase, log book and inclusion of AETCOM related questions in the PCTs was discussed in detail with Phase II AETCOM representatives.
6. On 11^th May 2024,follow up  meeting of Learner Doctor Method Sub committee was organized by Dr. Kalyani Pillai, Co-ordinator, LDM team at the Department of Paediatrics and organizing LDM sessions in each phase, preparation of LDM -Clinical clerkship logbook was finalized, for printing this document and giving to all the students from Phase 2 CBME Batch  onwards was  decided.
7. On 30th May 2024, meeting of AETCOM Sub-Committee in 2024 was organized by Dr. V.K. Prathiba, Co-ordinator, AETCOM team at the Department of Pharmacology and guidelines for implementation of CBME curriculum , AETCOM sessions in each phase, preparation of time table of each phase, log book and inclusion of AETCOM related questions in the PCTs was discussed in detail with Phase I AETCOM representatives.
