GENERAL MEDICINE

Overview

Amala IMS strives for, and is committed to provide “Complete Healing”, and the department of general medicine plays a pivotal role in it. The Department is fully equipped and functional with four units. The highly experienced physicians in Amala intensely examine the patients and make preliminary diagnosis. High-priority treatment is started with the intention of holistic cure. The department collaborates with allied specialties of Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, super-specialties of Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Neurology, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Pulmonology, making use of the services of experts in these departments, if a medical condition needs advanced treatment or advice.

Facilities

  • Free OP conducted from 8 AM to 11:30 AM, everyday except on Sundays and public holidays.
  • Counselling service of 24 hrs.
  • MICU 7 for seriously ill patients with cardiac monitors, pulse oximeters, mechanical ventilators, overhead O2 facilities, defibrillators etc., with a capacity of 16+1 beds and 1:1 measuring case.
  • Semi-ICU (8 beds for comparatively less sick, but patients with 1:2 nursing service.
  • CCU - full-fledged cardiac care is given for 24 hour including coronary angiogram, interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery facilities with excellently trained nursing staff and cardiologist on call duty.
  • General ward 120 beds (60 male & 60 Female).
  • Nephrology unit with dialysis facilities.
  • Bronchoscopy and OGD scopy are regularly undertaken on fixed days per week.

Services

The facilities are available on all working days except Sundays and public holidays, from 8.00am to 4.00pm Patient centered service is the goal of our outpatient facility. We provide timely and structured treatment for each patient attending our OP.

The In-patient facility is managed by efficient Nursing staff, who are trained working together with experienced doctors providing holistic treatment to individual patients.

Dedicated critical care is offered to sick patients, and the doctors are skillful enough to predict worsening of their pre-existing medical conditions with advanced evaluation and monitoring tools.

 By enhancing function, independence, well-being, comfort, and quality of life, the department assists elderly persons in leading healthy, productive lives.

At our department, we prioritize patient satisfaction and strive to provide personalized care that meets the individual needs of each patient at any point of time round the clock. Our friendly and compassionate staff are always available to answer any questions or concerns our patients may have.

 As a part of the commitment towards the society, the mission of the General Medicine department is to reach out to those who do not have access to regular medical care, and provide them with the necessary medical attention, in order to promote their health and wellbeing.

The department also offers a variety of specialized clinics and services to address specific medical conditions such as Critical Care, Geriatrics, Diabetes Clinic etc.

A well-structured teaching program for Undergraduates (UG) and Post-graduate (PG) students is a unique strength of the department and is among the best. Apart from theory classes, the 100 Undergraduates who enter the clinical side every year from the third semester onwards are rotated in various units for system-based learning, to develop sound communication skills, and capacity building to manage common medical disorders.
The Post Graduate teaching program started in 2011 with 2 seats per year, which has now increased to 6 seats per year, since 2021. PG teaching focuses on imparting clinical skills, hands-on experience in managing a variety of complex and critical cases under the close supervision of the faculty.
Emphasis is laid on practice of evidence-based medicine through seminars, topic reviews, and presentations in the journal club.

Our team of highly-trained intensivists and Anaesthesiologists offer exceptional patient care to those who need it the most.

The department offers state-of-the-art facilities, and cutting-edge technology, to ensure that our patients receive the best possible care. Our team utilises a wide range of advanced medical and surgical techniques and monitoring devices to manage and prevent the possible complications.

 The team of skilled medical professionals at Amala not only manage the medical needs of the patients, but also ensure that their physical and emotional needs are being well taken care of.

The medical camp includes a team of healthcare professionals consisting of doctors, nurses, and support staff who provide basic healthcare services, including the drugs, free of charge.
