Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, named after Blessed Mary Immaculate, is a Christian Minority Institution which is open to all irrespective of religion, caste or creed. It aims at giving effective nursing and medical training to the youth to become the professionals devoted to the healing ministry. Amala school of nursing is a unit of Amala Cancer Hospital Society managed by the Devamatha Province (CMI) founded by St. Kuriakose Alias Chavara. School of Nursing which started in 1980 is a pioneer institute in Nursing and Midwifery Education in kerala . The institution seeks to make qualitative contribution to health care through training personnel who are dedicated to the healing ministry. We aim to render service to the country, community and individual by offering professional and personal development, thereby yielding excellent output to nursing field throughout the world. We render quality based nursing education with advanced clinical practice to the students.

DIPLOMA IN GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

This educational programme enables the students to acquire adequate knowledge and skill to give efficient nursing care. The three year course is conducted as per the syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. Diploma is awarded by the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council after the successful completion of the course.


FACILITIES

School of Nursing is a part of the 1000+ bedded Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, which is a NABH accredited Multi-speciality Hospital. Amala Nursing School is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC). School of Nursing is located in a separate building within the hospital premises. We have a library which satisfies the literature requirements of students and staff. Laboratory assisted teaching method is used to enhance learning experience. The campus offers hygienic residential facilities to the students. We have an annual intake of 40 students and by this time 1100 students enrolled in service. The authority and faculty of this Institution give individual attention and guidance to each student.

We provide a healthy and fairly competitive environment to help the students grow in every sphere of activity, be it academics, sports or any other extra-curricular role, we have given equal opportunities to all our students so that they realize their true potential and get ready to face the outer world once they complete their studies. Our students actively participate in the competition and programmes in and out of the campus and gained commendable achievements and prizes. We celebrate all the important days of the year and make the campus more colorful with innovative programmes. Various committees are functioning to look after many of the proceedings. The committees help the students to maintain professional modesty, update knowledge and unveil their talents in all the aspects.
