Amala School of Nursing

Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, named after Blessed Mary Immaculate, is a Christian Minority Institution which is open to all irrespective of religion, caste or creed. It aims at giving effective nursing and medical training to the youth to become the professionals devoted to the healing ministry. AIMS is a unit of Amala Cancer Hospital Society managed by the Devamatha Province (CMI) founded by St. Kuriakose Alias Chavara, Department of School of Nursing which started in 1980 is a pioneer institute in Nursing and Midwifery Education of Amala. We aim to render service to the country, community and individual by offering professional and personal development, thereby yielding excellent output to nursing field throughout the world. We render quality based nursing education with advanced clinical practice to the students.

Diploma in Nursing

This educational programme enables the students to acquire adequate knowledge and skill to give efficient nursing care. The three year course is conducted as per the syllabus prescribed by the Indian Nursing Council. Diploma is awarded by the Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council..

Facilities

School of Nursing is a part of the 1000+ bedded Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, which is a NABH accredited Multi-speciality Hospital. Amala Nursing School is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council (INC) and Kerala Nurses and Midwives Council (KNMC). We have provisions for the practical experience of our students in community health. School of Nursing is located in a separate building within the hospital premises. We have a library which satisfies the literature requirements of students and staff. Laboratory assisted teaching method is used to enhance learning experience. The campus offers hygienic residential facilities to the students. Our. We have an annual intake of 40 students and by this time 1100 students enrolled in service. The authority and faculty of this Institution give individual attention and guidance to each student.

Achievements

The students of Amala Nursing School exhibit excellence in Student Nurses association activities. They take full participation in zonal and state SNA sports and cultural activities. Amala School of Nursing maintained as the best unit in zonal level, also obtained shield for the best SNA unit in the state level.

Mother Hentrica Educational Scholarship

  • Rs.2000 per person for four students 2000x4=8000 Rs, Top scores in the PTS examination giving due consideration to the financially challenged students.

    Alumni Association Scholarship

  • Rs.2000 for top scorer in the first year.
  • Rs.2000 for top scorer in the second year.
  • Rs.2000 for best outgoing student.
  • Rs.2500 for best academic performer.

    Other Scholarships

  • Financial assistance to economically backward students by Amala Management and appropriate benefactors.
  • The students also receives scholarship from Shalom Trust, Post matric scheme, other charitable societies and agencies.
